Icebreaker Questions – what are they?
Icebreaker questions are a new feature on Kaufmich that lets you decide what you’d like to know from a client right from their very first message.
You can add up to three questions in your own words. When clients message you for the first time, they can answer these questions directly instead of staring at an empty text box.
The goal is to make sure you receive a first message with some actual content, so you can quickly see whether it’s worth replying.
Who can see my Icebreaker Questions?
The feature is launching as a test and will initially only be visible to a portion of clients.
If you activate the feature, all test clients who message you for the first time will see your questions.
Where can I find Icebreaker Questions?
You’ll find them under “Settings → Icebreaker”.
The feature is switched off by default and will never be activated without you doing it yourself.
How to set up your questions
Turn the feature on: Once you activate the toggle, the three question fields become available for you to personalise.
Customise your questions: Replace each question with your own wording. You have 70 characters per question.
Visible or hidden: For each question, you can decide whether it should be shown to clients. An empty field won’t be displayed.
Set a required question: At least one visible question must be marked as required. Hidden questions can’t be required questions.
Check the preview: The preview shows you exactly what clients will see when they send you their first message.
If you delete your own text, the standard question will appear again as a grey placeholder, and the question will be treated as hidden.
Why can’t I save my questions?
If none of your visible questions is marked as required, saving will be blocked and you’ll see a notification.
Simply mark one of your questions as required and you’ll be able to save your settings.
What exactly does “required question” mean?
A required question has to be answered if a client uses the Icebreaker. They can’t skip it.
Important: Clients can still choose to skip the Icebreaker altogether and simply write a message in the normal text field. A required question therefore doesn’t force a client to answer - it simply means that they’ll have to answer it if they choose to use the Icebreaker.
How will I receive the answers?
You’ll receive everything as a single message in your inbox, with the questions and answers shown one after another and the ice cube icon indicating that it’s an Icebreaker message.
Skipped questions will be marked as skipped.
Afterwards, the conversation can continue normally.
Are the questions created by AI?
No. There’s no AI involved - neither in your questions nor in the answers.
Nothing is generated, reworded or filtered. You write your questions yourself, and you receive the answers exactly as they were typed by the Client.
What happens if I change my Icebreaker questions later?
Old messages remain unchanged. They will still show the question that was asked at the time the message was sent.
Any changes you make will apply from the next first message a client sends you.
Can I switch the feature off again?
Yes, at any time using the same toggle in the Icebreaker settings.
Your questions will remain saved and will be available again immediately if you reactivate the feature.
Tips for good Icebreaker questions
Be specific rather than general: “When and where would you like to meet?” will give you more useful information than “Tell me something about yourself.”
Use your own tone: Straightforward, playful, direct - your questions, your language.
Use it as a reading test: Some escorts ask for a code word from their profile text. This lets you quickly see who has actually read your profile.
Start with one required question: This helps you see whether your other questions are being skipped.
